CROSS-HAULING IS UNDER A PROBE Alleged cross-hauling of sugar beets and sugar beet pulp between Delta and Lehi is at present under scrutiny of the state public utilities commission. F. M. Abbott, special investigator for the commission, com-mission, leaving yesterday afternoon for the two points named to get at the facts. H is said th a f i n an i n q u i i y into a requesl for permission to construct a sugar beet loading station at Lehi and at Delta the cross-hauling situation was brought to light. Allegations are that the Lehi factory contracts for beets in Delta territory and that the Delta factory fac-tory contracts for beets in the Leht territory, ter-ritory, necessitating hauls which cause the respective shipments to cover the same distance in onnosite directions. The ! same condition is said to exist in respect , of sugar beet pulp. Cross-hauling is directly opposed to the regulations of the national railroad ad-, ad-, ministration and also in contravention of public war policy.
