Show BIG MONEY AWAITS LABOR IN VIRGINIA Something of the opportunities which await skilled and common labor going to Nitro. W. Va., for employment on the construction of the vast powder factories at that point by the government, is told by E. YV. Gaujot, examiner from the works, who Is in Salt I-ake to secure , additional men. j Mr. Gaujot declares that the labor shortage is acute and that Utah must j provide 5'"'ii additional men at once, both 1 common and skilled worker?. Common : laborers, he says, are now being paid at the rate of -to cents per hour, with time and one -half for overtime and double time for Sundays and holidays, with the privilege of doing all the work they wish. Skilled laborers ara paid at a higher scale, some of the cra-fts earning upward of $10o per week. All men are provided with cottages, if they are married, at a rental of $1S per month, ,-ind ample quarters quar-ters also are erected for unmarried men. Common laborers are transported free, with meals furnished, to the works, while skilled mechanics are charged $15 for t rn ns porta t ion a nd meals en run te.
