The Gar:uesa tarnis, breeders of pure- bred Holstoi n cattie and pure-bred Ihiroe. Jersey hojjs, havo brought their show herd to I' tan this year for the I'ir?t time. Lazcar Bros., managers of the ranch, are highly elated with the fair, and assure us that they will be regular exhibitors at all subsequent fairs held here. They intend to show a carload of Ihiroe hos as well as their llolsteins at next year's fair. Messrs. Lazear believe that Utah is an ideal place for. the Holstein. This breed of dairy cattle, but little seen in this country, is known over the whole United States as the most profitable and popular breed of dairy cattie. They hold every world's record for butter and milk production. Of all eowa tested last year the Hoist ei n showed an aver-ae aver-ae production of SS pounds of butter for cows more than their nearest rival, the (Jucrnsy, and 112 pounds more than the Jersey. It is little wonder that such large and efficient milk and but ter producers should be becoming so popular, and we predict that the next decade will see the Holstein introduced into Utah in vast numbers. |
