Show SALT LAKER IN ALASKA RECOVERS FROM INFLUENZA Mrs. S. J. Ayer, 819 Sherman avenue, ave-nue, has received a letter from her son, Fred M. Ayer, dated Nome, Alaska, December 4, in which Mr. Ayer tells of the recovery from influenza of himself him-self and his wife. The epidemic, writes Mr. Ayer, has been extremely severe- and has terribly decimated the native population. Seventy-five per cent of the natives at Nome have died of the disease and 5 per cent of the whites have succumbed. f Mr. Ayer is one of the most widely known men in Alaska on account of his prominence in connection w;th dog ff racing. He has entered teamts in all the big races during the last four or five years and has been uniformly successful. suc-cessful. Ho lived in Salt Lake before going north. |
