Show Tommy Thomas to Conduct an-Auction of Unclaimed Toys SANTA CLAUS made another visit to the federal building yesterday, and after looking over his mail, which had been carefully assorted for him by his able assistant, Postmaster Post-master Noble "Warrum, visited the office of T. F. Thomas, United States collector of customs, and inspected the stock of goods which Mr. Thomas will offer at auction next "Wednesday. The clever old gentleman was exceedingly exceed-ingly pleased with tho assortment of toys to be offered at auction on Wednesday, and he hinted that he would like to be considered as a buyer in preference to air others, as he could use all of the beautiful beau-tiful toys, which came from Japan. 1 Mr. Thomas was obdurate, however, and said that he could not break any of his rules, and the goods would have to be sold to tho highest bidder, lie explained this hy saying that they were goods on which persons to whom they were consigned con-signed had refused to pay the duly. ' In the assortment, also, arc numerous -piiirs of fine woolen socks, silk handkerchiefs handker-chiefs and other articles of comfort. The iliiction will bo hold in the north courtroom, court-room, beginning at 'I o'clock. |
