In these six cases the definite terms for which they were sentenced have expired, ex-pired, and under the ruling of the supremo su-premo court the hoard of pardons had no alternative hut to release them. Including the'eases of the indeterminate indetermi-nate term prisoners there were sixty- I four cases heard yesterday. The disposals dis-posals may he summarized as follows: Three rehearings granted; oue parole g ran ted ; eight, sentences tormina toil, with specified dates in the near future; thirty-one applications for pardon, commutation, com-mutation, rehearing and parole denied; eight cases continued ; five sentences commuted at once and two sentences commuted, with specified dates. Pathetic Incident. i A pathetic feature appeared in the application of L. J. Cornelius for a rehearing re-hearing for termination of sentence. His application had been denied at the Do-cetnber Do-cetnber meeting. A letter from Mrs. A. I'adom was read, in which she stated that she is in great need of the applicant's appli-cant's help, as her husband is in the hospital with tuberculosis and in a had way, and the doctor says she also has tuberculosis. On December 2 she sent Cornelius to pay his transportation home, hoping that the board of pardons would act favorably upon his applica-t applica-t tion. She lias since written him that inasmuch a? the board did not take favorable fa-vorable action for him to return the money so that sho would he able to pay tho rent on their place of business, she being engaged in a small 4 clothes cleaning establishment." fie is not able to return the money, as he has applied it to his own use. Upon hearing this report permission sought by Cornelius to appear before tho hoard in person and for rehearing was denied. Record of Cases.
