Show MINING INTERESTS WILL CONFER ON TAX Meeting Will Be Held Today Witli Governor Present to Discuss Income Solution. That representatives of the mining JniKtesXs of the state will confer with the governor, members of the board of equalization and legislative committee ' today in an effort to arrive at some solution to the tax problem was an-inounced an-inounced last night at a meeting of the Tt:.zens' tax committee and the conference con-ference committee appointed by the mining men. The mining committee will meet again with the citizens' committee tomorrow afternoon to report on the meeting with the state officials and members of the legislature, ami it is probable that the citizens' committee will make a report to a mass meeting. The time and date for the, mass meeting, however, have not been definitely decided upon. Representative Arthur Paxman of the tax and revenue committee of the lower house attended last night's meeting and explained to tho mining men and the citizens' committee that the legislature was anxious to hear any plan which promised to solve the tax' problem. Ho declared that the eomniitce had about decided that the income tax was the only solution and for this reason the bill had been introduced. Representatives of the mining interests inter-ests announced that they already had interviewed (iovernor Bamberger and that he had favored the restoration of the old law and was not favorable to an income at this time. Xo definite action will be taken by the citizens' committee until after tho report- of the meeting of the mining representatives with state officials and legislative committee today. |
