Show SOLDIER FATALLY HURT IN DANCE HALL Comrades. Attack the Dive; Many Shots Tired, But No Casualties Are Eeported. DOUGLAS, Ariz., .Tune 10. One soldier sol-dier was probably fatally wounded late today in a dance hall in the restricted district here. As a result mobs of soldiers sol-diers attacked the dance hall. Several hundred shots -were fired. Several soldiers and negroes were more or less injured. The provost guards tonight are oa armed patrol. The trouble trou-ble started when Private E. Connor, horseshoer of battery F, Sixth field artillery, was stabbed at a dance hall kept by a negro in the restricted district late today. Approximately fifty soldiers immedi-ately immedi-ately attacked the place. The provost guard arrested several negro defenders and soldier assailants, ending the first attack. Connor was removed to the military hospital in a serious condition, and a rumor spread thatsho had died. About 200 soldiers entered the district dis-trict tonight, anil as thev neared the dance hall a shot was fired. The soldiers sol-diers charged the hall. Before the provost guard arrived several sev-eral hundred shots had been fired. No one was injured so far as eould be learned. |
