Show KEW REPUBLICAN i COMMITTEE MEETS. Subcommittee Appointed to Confer With Mr. Hughes Regarding Officers. CUM AGO, June 10. The new Republican Repub-lican national commit tee held its first meeting immediately after the convention conven-tion adjourned late today, authorized the appointment of a stib-coinniii toe to confer with Charles F. Hughes, the presidential pres-idential nominee, about the election cf officers and the executive committee. cornier Senator Murray Crane of Massachusetts, senior member of the national committee, presided. The following sub-committee was appointed ap-pointed : W. Murray Crane of Massachusetts, Ralph K. Williams of Oregon, lvah II. Martin of Virginia, Charles B. Warren of Michigan, John T. Adams of Iowa, Senator Ifeed fcinioot of Utah, Senator Boies Penrose of Pennsylvania and da mes A. II erne n way of Indiana. Under Un-der the rules, the exeeuti ve committee will consist of twelve members. " The dan is for the sub-committee to confer with Mr, Hughes as soon as convenient con-venient and then name the new executive execu-tive committee. Later the executive committee will select a chairman, secretary, sec-retary, treasurer and sergeant-at-arms. At today's session no names for chairman chair-man of the national committee were mentioned. The committee took up two contests for national committeemen referred to it by tho national convention and filled one vacancy. In the eontost over the Tennessee member the committee referred the matter mat-ter to'the executive committee, to be named later. The contest in Kentucky was settled by the withdrawal of tho contestant, J. V. McCulloeh, and A. T. Hart was seated. The committee seated T. Coleman Du Pont as the Delaware member. |
