Show GERMAN INFANTRY ATTACK REPULSED BY FRENCH TROOPS PARIS. Juno 19, 12 noon. A German infantry attack on the French position north of hill No. 321 was repulsed hy the French batteries yesterday, according to an official statement issued bv the war office today. The Germans ifre continuing contin-uing their bombardment of Dead Man hill and in the Chattancourt region. The text of the statement says: South of the Somme an enemy attack at-tack near Lihons failed. On the left bank of the Meuse the enemy has bombarded the southern slopes of Dead Man hill and the country coun-try around Chattancourt. Our artillery everywhere responded. On the right bank of the river a pronounced German attack against our positions north of hill 321 was repulsed. re-pulsed. v During the night of June 18-19 two of our air squadrons bombarded the barracks and the railroad station at Vousieres. One squadron threw down thirty-sl,x shells of large caliber and the other one twenty-five. |
