Show REGISTRATION LIGHT 1 01 OPENING DAY Few Avail Themselves of Opportunity to Get Upon Voting Lists. Registration of voters for the municJpal primary and election was light yesterday. It was the first day of registration, and electors had not warmed up to the campaign cam-paign as yet. The heavy registration wlLl take place October 12, which Is the last day to register reg-ister before the primaries. October 19. There will be a registration day following follow-ing the primaries, on October 26, for the enrolling of citizens who want to Tote at the city election November 2. The city campaign will have tuned up considerably and tho candidates and their organizations will have been hammering away on the registration necessity by the time the next registration days roll around. Registration yesterday ran from' one and two, names to thirty and forty in the more populous districts of the city. Many of those registered yesterday were women, who frequently are less procrastinating procras-tinating than men in such matters. A feature of the campaign situation yesterday was the formal advent of E. Q. O'Donnell as a candidate for nomination as city commissioner. Mr. O'Donnell filed his petition, bearing the names of 170 voters, with the city recorder. Mr. O'Donnell's plans were clinched by this action. It had been variously reported that he would and would not be a candidate. can-didate. H. H. Green is expected to file his petition peti-tion today for city commissioner. Saturday Sat-urday Is the last day for the filing of petitions before the primaries. 1 Supporters of Karl A. Scheid In his race for nomination as city commissioner held a conference last night at the candidate's headquarters in the Kenyon. They discussed dis-cussed plans for promoting Mr. Scheid's interests. At Scheid's heaouarters letters to the voters, to be released and mailed the last of the week, are being prepared. The H. K. Russell forces are arranging arrang-ing two rallies In behalf of that candidate candi-date for commissioner. The rallies will be held some time before the primaries, on dates and at places to be determined later. |
