Show AETNA AGENTS TD SEE ZIOli SUNDAY I Local Representatives of Company to Entertain 800 Delegates. AUTO TOURS. DINNER Work of Wesley King-Agency King-Agency Brings About Change of Plans. Chi Sunday next, between the hours of noon and rnidnigbt. Salt Lake will entertain the largest number of iosur ance men ever assembled in this or any other western city. For then will arrive the delegates from all points east, north and south to the big Aetna convention, to be held in San Francisco October 6 to 9. The first of the five special trains bearing the company V representatives is scheduled to arrive at the Denver 4 Kio Grande depot at IS o'clock noon, two other trains following follow-ing at brief intervals, the fourth at 3 o cjock and the fifth thirty minutes later. It is arranged that the trains carry ing these delegates, representatives of :he liability department of the Aetna Life Insurance company and also of the Aetna Accident and Liability company, haU remain here nntil midnight, and it is for the purpose of providing adequate and fitting entertainment for the host of visitors that the Aetna men here are working almost night and day. King Secures Stop. When the Hartford central office of the Aetna company first worked out the "a .lauavuuuuruidi journey, all the delegates making the trip having won it through competition instituted upon a purely business basis, it was planned that the special trains should go through without any stops of length during tho coast to coast journey. Wesley Wes-ley King, head of the Wesley King agency, the then representative of the Aetna interests here, the agency being recently purchased by Ed D. Smith & Sons of this city, took the matter up with W. L. Mooney, supervisor of the Aetna agencies. After Supervisor Mooney had been flooded with letters from all parts of the country from delegates dele-gates who wished to "see Zion,M the train schedule was completely changed and the twelve-hour stop arranged for. Then came the task of caring for the army of visitors in fitting style, and it is to this that Mr. King, Mr. Smith and all the other Aetna representatives of this department of insurance are bending bend-ing their energies. To Divide for Dinner. Great as is the capacity of the two largest hotels of the city, it was apparent ap-parent that neither one of them could conveniently care for such an army of visitors in one crowd for dinner and handle the regnlar business of the day. Half of the delegates will be taken to the Hotel Utah for dinner, the other -half to the Newhouae hotel. But prior to the dinner, which is to be served at 6:30 o'clock, the giioste will not be overlooked. A preliminary meeting of the entertainment committee was held last evening in the office of Ed D. Smith k Sons, 17 Exchange place, and details de-tails of the course to be followed were largely worked out. Present at this meeting wero Wesley King, Fred E. Smith, Charles E. Smith, William Gill, F. M. Paget, John T. Brunn, William E. Backes, Carl T. Freeze, H. K. Seal, 0. B. Raybould, Jj. T. Maringer, F. J. Bambach of the New York Centra, W. Tueker of the Southern Pacific. W. F. Veo of the Denver lines and C. E. Moss; Will Take Auto Trip. It was agreed that all of the visitors will bo given the opportunity, if they so desire, to have an anto trip about the city, including Liberty park, the University Uni-versity of Utah and Fort Douglas. All of the autos of the Beeing Salt Lake company will be brought into service, as well as a large number of private autos. Members of the entertainment, committee commit-tee will meet each train upon ta arrival and furnish the delegates with automobiles automo-biles and guides. In this big party of visitors there will be many of the big men of the Aetna company, chief among whom mav be mentioned President Morgan G. Bulk-ley, Bulk-ley, Vice President Walter C. Faxon, Vice President J. Scofield Bowe, Treasurer Treas-urer Morgan Bulkley Brainard, Assistant As-sistant Treasurer Charles H. Remington and Agencv Supervisor W. L. Mooney. All of these are from the head offices of the company, Hartford, Conn. There are nine delegates from the Wesley King agency, which, as stated, was recently purchased by Ed D. Smith & Sons. These delegates are Wesley King, Mrs. Weslev King. Mrs. B. F. Groweg, C. C, Baches, C. T. Freeze, Colonel C. A. Boyd) Ogdon; H. A. Purdy. Ogdcn; Mrs. H. A. Pnrdy, Og-den; Og-den; Joseph Perrault. Boise, Idaho. All of these delegates will join the party here and proceed to the coast. After the convention in San Francisco Fran-cisco is finished the trains will be routed to Los Angeles and Man Diego, thus affording opportunity for a visit to the southern exposition before returning home. |
