The discovery of what is believed by the police to be a case of I suicldo was mad this mora ins vhon the body of C. T. Mend, about SR years of age, probably a miner, was found tn a small untenanted houso at 2716 Pacific avenue. Death apparently had resulted i from a three-inch gush across the throat, ! an ci-en raxor lying within a few Inches j or tho man's right hand, furnishing evidence evi-dence that points to suicide. Mohlnian and Patrol nriver Guy Xelon made an investigation investiga-tion after the bodv had been discovered by Rolden. They found that tho man had removed his vhat, shoes and coat and the body was lying stretched out on the floor w:h the coat rolled up under the head. Tiiere was no evidence of a struggle. strug-gle. The body was removed bv the officers offi-cers to the Lerkin undertaking" rooms. The man's name was obtained from papers found in the pockets of hla roat. There wa a receiot for dues paid to May, 1916, in the Pendleton, Ore., tribe Improved Im-proved Order of Red Men. Among a '1st of addresses wer those of a sister, Mrs Rose Chambers. 302 Palisade avenue Jersey Jer-sey City. N. J., and A. O. Pargan, 220 South N'lnth West street. Salt Lake Citv. Further identification of the supposed miner can : be made by the fact that several front teeth were gold crowned. All of the clothes worn by the man were clean and of good quality. In connection with the investigation bv 1 the police judge. W. H. Reeder. er-officio , coroner, also investigated and decided that the evidence was sufficiently indica.-! indica.-! t!v of suicide as to mako an Inquest ! unnecessary. |
