Show PEKTN, Sept 28, 1:35 a. m. It is learned from Wei-Hsien, In Shantung, that a second detachment of Japanese troops arrived there at sundown on Saturday Sat-urday with fifteen cartloads of ammunition ammuni-tion and supplies. Other troops have advanced ad-vanced west along the railway and hold Fangtse, where the Germans flooded the coal mines before their departure. All the Chinese miners fled. The American mission is crowded with women of all classes from the city and country districts. They are said by the correspondent at Wei-Hsien to fear both the Japanese and the Chinese soldiers. The Chinese foreign office has asked the Japanese legation for an explanation of the occupation of the railway station at Wei-Hsien by Japanese. |
