Show TWO BIG GAMES FDR 1SITY1S WEEK Take on Montana Aggies Wednesday and Meet U. A. C. Friday. With two big Intercollegiate games coming up this week, the University of Utah basketball players will have a good deal to think about If they expect to cure the defects apparent In the game with tho B. Y. C. last Friday night. On Wednesday evening tho east benchers will play the team from the Montana State Agricultural college from Bozeman. This team played the best ball met with by tho local university team on its northern trip last winter and will doubtless put up a stiff battle. For the past live years tho Bozeman team has won the college championship of Montana and has maintained a standard stand-ard of excellence equal to that of the best western colleges. From reports of the basketball situation contained In the paper pa-per published by the students of the Montana Mon-tana college the same old team Is playing play-ing again this year that took the championship cham-pionship last year and is meeting so far with great success. If Bennlon's men can win this game they will probably win by it tho championship cham-pionship of Montana, as indications are now that the Bozeman' quintette will again defeat the Stale Unlversltv for the title. Utah Aggies Friday. On Friday night the University of Utah will meet the Utah Aggies In Logan. This will be an Important same for both schools, as tho winning of tho early games goes far towards keeping up the fighting spirits of a team. The final outcome of tho state college schedule is doubtful. Saturday night the B. Y. U, team won from the B. Y. C by a much larger score than that by which the U. of U. defeated tho B. Y. C , but Coach Jensen of the Logan college says his men played a much stronger game against tho "U" than thev did against tho Provo team. Tn commenting on tho present outlook of the boskotbal season Coach Jensen hud some Interesting remarks to make. He had this to say about the possibility of a linal tie-up as to the championship: I think everj team in the leaguo will lose at least one game this year. The different fives are too evenly matched for any one of them to win consistently and when the final whistle blows there Is likely to he some dispute as to -which team Is mailer mai-ler of the situation. The B. Y. C has already lost to the U. of U. and to the B. Y. U., but I fullv expect to beat both of these teams on the B Y C. floor Tho B. Y. U. lias a groat team, but I think when thev meet the Aggies In Logan they will lose, although al-though I expect Roberts to win easily from tho Aggies In Provo. Value of Home Floor. r look to sec Utah lose the first gamo with the Aggies. Bcnnlon has some good boys, but on the A. C. Ioor...T can't aeo a. victory for him. It will surprise me. however, if Bcnnlon Bcn-nlon doesn't trim tho Aggies in Salt Lake. Still further. 1 bcliove Roberts' team will win handily from the "U" In Provo, but unless tho varsity men aro afraid of Provo they will win In the Deseret gym. With this kind of a tie-up tho 'varsity men will have to get down and hustle or thoy will not even win their home games. The men know the gan'io fairly well but they lack condition. The game with Montana will be played Jn tho Dos-eret Dos-eret gymnasium and for that reason the varsity will have a workout on tho downtown down-town floor thin afternoon. This will be practically the last hard work thev will do before the big game and those who show tho best physical condition condi-tion In this afternoon's practlco will be used in tho Montana game. At present' Bonnlon Is fearful lest Mclntvre's lak of condition will keep him. from some of the early games. Tho varsity will play a gamo with tho B. Y. U. next wck |
