Show WATER TUNNEL NEARS FINISH Regular weekly city council meeting was not held this week, but instead members met at the Dry Fork water tunnel Thursday Thurs-day evening and escorted taxpayers tax-payers through the tunnel, which is nearing completion. At the present time 1350 feet have been enclosed in concrete, leaving 205 feet to be finished-i finished-i Councilman C. A. Morley, in charge of the work at the Dry Fork project, states that a concrete con-crete weir house will be built over the tunnel near the entrance en-trance in place of the wooden structure now standing. With this improvement, the Dry Fork water supply will be completely covered with concrete con-crete and iron pipe. It is expected expect-ed that two months will be needed need-ed to finish the project. A number of taxpayers made the trip to the tunnel last evening, eve-ning, affording them a chance to see what a vast improvement removal re-moval of rotten timbers has made- Mr. Morley states that future upkeep at the tunnel will eliminate elimi-nate one expense to the city. Up to March 1 the city had expended $3,363-46 for materials used at the tunnel. WPA labor has been employed. |
