McMullou, who declarod that lie was uot only opposed to the board interfering in tho matter of choice of uniforms, but was strongly against the military training at. the high school at all'. Mctulleu that the action of the board, as contemplated, was but an attempt; to make the. training train-ing as inexpensive as possible to the parents- . .1. II, Hammond, president, of the board, explained that the idea behind the appointment of the special com-mittco com-mittco was to establish an equality among the cadet battalions that was lacking now. He said that for lack of a standard of specifications for uniforms uni-forms some cadets were paying much more than others for their uniforms and the result was- a decided lack of uniformity in the uniforms. JPupils enrolling in this course will be required to pay for the raw materials used in their work. An appropriation of $500 was made, to be at the disposal of the superintendent superin-tendent of schools, for engaging prominent promi-nent educators to lecture at the public pub-lic schools from time- to time. xhe purchase of a moving- picture lantern at a coBt of $30'O also, was authorized. The motion picturo apparatus will be used in connection with studies at the technical high school and, also for general gen-eral purposes in the schools.
