When complcle1 the plant will have capacity for treating nt least 20nn tons of ore a day. ,-ind some estimates place it at 2500 tons. Mill at Half Capacity. At tho present tlmo only one-half of the concentrator Is In operation and is treating about 100 tons a day. The recovery re-covery Is said to be satisfactory, although al-though not quite up to anticipation and not as hlch as tt will his when the chances oro completed. A rather low grade of ore Is now being put through the mill, and for somo time it lias not carried more than l55 por cent zinc. The tailings arc running about 4 por cent. The new hoist Is now belnc installed, ami pending completion or the work the mine pni'-tlrally is cloud down. The chippy compartment of the nhaft only Is being used, but If pressed for ore at least 150 tons a day may be lifted Ih rough this compartment. Within tho next three months the company will have two working shafts. Tin Colonel Sellers shaft, located about 1K00 feci north of the Untie & Superior shaft, will be down to a depth of 12D0 feet, where a station will be cut and connection made with the crosscut which wan run some time nsu from tho Butte & Superior. Tt Is equipped with a hoist capable of sinking to a much greater depth and of lifting a heavy load from a maximum depth. The veins opened by the crosscut are of groat Importance. Although Al-though but little exploration work has been done. It haa proved that the ore bodies are extensive and have great width, and that in some instances the ore runs ns high as 50 per cent zinc. Very Rich Zinc Mine. With tho two shafts in operation the Butte & Superior company will be able to lift a minimum of 2000 tons of oro a day. Tho ore that Is lifted through the Colonel Sellers shaft wilt bo parsed through coarse crushers at the collar of the shaft and will then be carried by aerial tram to tho secondary crushing plant at tho concentrator.
