Show JOHN J. O'NEIL DEAD. Veteran Railroad Laborer Expires Suddenly Sud-denly In Arms of Officer. Special to The Tribune, OGDEN, Dec. 21. Death suddenly summoned sum-moned a veteran railroad worker early this morning when John J. O'Ncll, aged Wl years, fell dead into the arms of Special Oflicer O. M. Finch, a railroad watchmn, a moment after he had told the patrolmnn that he was on his way home. Death Is believed to have resulted from heurt failure Induced by dropsy. 'flic railroad watchman met O'Neil at tho Twenty-first street crossing of tho Oregon Short Lino tracks and, as the man seemed somewhat unsteady, Finch feared that he would be run over bv a train. O'Neil had Just replied to the officer's question when he pitched forward into Pitch's arms and died instantly. The watchman carried ,thu body to a railroad bunk house at 43 West Twenty-first street, where it was determined that the I man was dead. Tho body was rcmovd lo ihn larkin undertaking rooms pending pend-ing the funeral arrangements. O'Neil had been employed as a section man on the railroads entering Ogden for tho past several years, lie is thought to have had no relatives and mado his home in tho bunk house on West Twenty-first stroct. He was a veteran of tho Spanish-American Spanish-American war and drow a pension. |
