Show UN RIOTERS IE : JAILED MMICHICJUI Yanco Terzich, Well Known Among Utah Miners, Is Also Arrested. CALUMET, Miich., Sept. 12. As a result of a wild demonstration today by copper mine strikers and women sympathizers, who poured into Calumet from all parts ,of the district, fifteen women and Lhree men arc under arrest, ar-rest, including Yanlco Terzich, a mem-bor mem-bor of the executive board of the Western Federation of Miners. Attempts At-tempts to interfere with nonfedcration men coinfj to work and disturbing the peace were charged against the women and two of the men. Terzich was jailed after a wordy clash with an officer and probably will be released. The strikers and the women were noisy and apparently in an uely mood-Hundreds mood-Hundreds of them marched into Calumet Calu-met from tho Keweenaw "county mines to the north, and each appearance of soldiers and deputy sheriffs brought out an outburst of hooting. Deputies in automobiles and mounted and foot soldiers prevented serious disorder. Troublo was feared at tho mine shafts and at each of them deputies were stationed in force. The strikers were kept on the move bv the cavalry. Yanco Terzich, labor agitator and organizer, or-ganizer, came to this city from Denver Den-ver at tho time of the striko prccipi- tated by employees of the 'Utah Copper Cop-per company' at Bingham a oar ago and. "was in the field at Bingham du'r-iug du'r-iug the striko troublo there. The trouble culminated iti n war between be-tween guards and deputy sheriffs, on one side and strikers and agitators, on tho other, which resulted in a number of doaths. The strike was. finally .ended bv the companv importing other workman lo take the places of. the more rabid of the strikers and the return of main of tlie former employees.
