Show 1 CLUB OBJECTS TO IM SHOOTING Hunters Declare Much Damage Dam-age Would Follow Opening Open-ing September 15. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN-, Sept. C The Wasatch Gun club, composed largely of Ogden men, Is the first organization to take an official stand against Game Warden Fred W. Chumbers on his proposed plan to open the duck season on September 1, fifteen fif-teen days ahead of tho usual opening date. The members of tho club have voted unanimously agalnet the plan. This organization has large grounds on tlic shore of the lake northwest of the Utah Hot springs. Tho members declare de-clare that tho opening of the season would not only damage their grounds, but every shooting resorvo on the shores of the lake. The clubs will not be In a position to open their grounds on the fifteenth, and unlcEs special gunrdH are maintained tho reserves will bo overrun with trespassers, It Is declared. They aJso bellovo that there would be less disease dis-ease among the ducks If the season was opened October 1. W. H. William Simpson, who resides In the Hooper district near tho grounds of the North Shoro Duck club, said while in Ogden today lhat there aro thousands of dead and dying birds In that locality. Ho believes that tho disease among the ducks 1b duo to the acid nnd poisonp which come from the sugar factory and Ogden sewors. Instead of killing the sick ducks and removing their bodies. Mr. Simpson would have the hunters give a helping hand In removing tho diseased birds to fresh water points, whero they will recover. |
