STATE INSPECTOR I CHD'UE Report Shows That Properties Proper-ties in District Are Making Mak-ing Great Progress. CONSOLIDATION IS ON Reindeer and Copper Queen to Make Great Strides Under Un-der New Merger. Speclul to Tho Tribune. WALLACE, Ida.. Oct. 20. State Mino Inspector Bell, who has been In this district dis-trict for sumo time examining properties, principal among which was tho Green Hill-Cleveland, which suffered tvo shutdowns shut-downs on account of the defective shaft gearing, spent last week in the Nine Mile district and mado favorable reports on the larger companies operating there. Of the Tamarack fc Custer Consolidated, Consoli-dated, Mr. Bell says It Is opened by two working levels on the Tamarack ore shoot, both connected underground nnd through to the surface. On these levels this ore shoot is 500 feet lonsr by three to thirty feet wide, and ncarlv 300 feet deep, with rich mineral stlli showing in both tho tast. and west faces. The sill floors In both levels aro being cut across the full .width of this ore bodv and heavily timbered. In preparation for extensive production, while the thick bands and bodies of clean galena mineral shown In tho new stopo hack varying from a foot to six foot in thickness, together to-gether with tho associated milling ore, give the deposit a definite prospect of becoming one of tho notable ore channels chan-nels of the Coour d'AIencu. With the important im-portant and productive oro shoots of the Custer end of the Consolidated group tlll untouched below the eld upper levels, nnd ensily available by crosi'cutting from a drift several thousand foot long, run under the ore body by mlst.uko due to a change In dip. this mine promises a very oxtenslve source of valuablo ore when moro fully developed that will warrant war-rant a much larger reduction plant and better mill site than Is now awllnblc. Improvements at Success.' At the Success mine and mill (xtcn-slve (xtcn-slve improvements are helng made and additional machinery Is being addod with a view to producing a cleaner zinc concentrate. The Success mine la worked by the shrinkage method, to which the deposit and its tight, hard formations aro especially adapted. A reserve re-serve of 50,000 tons of broken ore Is avail able In the slopes at this time, reports Mr. Bell. This denoslt 1ms hp. en devel oped to a depth of 700 feet by adit lun-nclH lun-nclH and underground connections. A shaft 300 feet deep has been sunk below tho 700-foot lovel and a drift at a depth of 850 feet run out from the shaft on the longest ore body In the mine, which Is now being sloped for 250 feet In length and seven to forty feet In width. These two Nine Mile mines are employing em-ploying more than 300 men and are shipping ship-ping more than 3000 tons of clean con- j centrales and crude ore per month. The product of the Success Is principally 1 zinc, with nn occasional car of high- j grade lead-silver ore. while the' product 1 of the Tamarack & Custer mill Is high-grade high-grade lead-silver ore. containing very llltlo lll-tlo zinc. These properties In connection with tho Instc-rstate & Callahan property, prop-erty, continue to insure an Important and permanent business tributary to Wallace for years to come, which should annually annu-ally Increase In volume as the other promising prospects of tho Nine Mile territory and adjacent mountain, slopes are developed. Lack of water by which the operation of the llypothcek mine at Kingston has been handicapped for tho past few week's Is considered to be at an end for this year, and two shifts have again been put to work In the mill. During the dry period the mill had to be shut down to shifts of about six hours each. At the present time the company is working eighteen men, and is continuing' to stope on the 700-foot level, where a vein of about two feet of good milling oro has been uncovered. Tho vein Is not at all regular and at places It widens out to eight feet, while at other points It ninehos down to a few Inches. A thirty-two-ton car of concentrates was shipped n few days ago which ran 64.8 per cent lead. 8.4 ounces silver and SC gold. Tt Is the present plan to ship two more cars this month. Eighteen men are working at the Hypothock property, and a statemonl. was made last week by an officer of the company that not less than twelve men have been employed at any time during tho past six years. It Is planned to continue con-tinue operations with an Increased working work-ing force all winter. Consolidation Approved. The papers approving the consolidation of the Reindeer Gold & Copper Mining company and the Copper Queen Mining company were received here from Boise a few days ago and a meeting was held to elect officers for the new company. A. B. Crawford was chosen president; J. C. Giahe, vlco president; J. H. Wlxon, treasurer, treas-urer, and W. B. Ileldfelt, secretary. The officers were directed to get things In shape to start work as soon as possible, and the secretary was authorized to call In all outstanding stock of the two companies, com-panies, and to losuo stock In the consolidation consoli-dation to replace It as soon as the secretaries secre-taries of tho former companies could prepare pre-pare a list of those legally entitled to It. At the present time all property of cither of the former companies has been transferred trans-ferred to the consolidation, and although they still exist In the eyes of the law, In reality they will become non-existent as soon as their secretaries can Bottle all business. It Is In the agreement that both the Reinleer and the Copper Queen would bo absolutely free from debt when the consolidation took place, and to do this the Reindeer company must issue a partial assessment to conclude old business. busi-ness. According to information authorized for circulation from the Kellogg office of the Stewart company, the Stewart earned a net profit of approximately $95,000 In September. At this rate the company is earning In, excess of the quarterly 10 prr cent dividend requirements, and the i per cent bonus disbursed recently, and can lay aside a considerable surplus The report states that the property now Is established on a dividend-paying basis of no less than 40 cents a share annuallv, in addition to an occasional extra declaration, decla-ration, as conditions may Justify. At the 1 me of the recent annual meeting, when 1 10 control of the management passed to the Assets Realization company or New York, it was predicted that the stock-would stock-would advance rapidly, and the rise in nln Pti,1C-hoU-on, lhe SPohane exchange and the New lork curb, has verified the prophecy. e nicv?trtt 1 t0 lhc stockholders of the rsabob Mining company has been prepared pre-pared by the directors, and is holnc mailed as rapidly as it Is received from the printer. The report i.s comprehensive and sets out the work done during the past summer and outlines the plans for fture development and mining Th chief Item or interest In the report l a cony or a letter from Charles F n v Km' a ,?,cal m,n,n,s expert who ad- vised the action to take a bond on the V group and the Idaho claims hic property having been acquired by tho company, and work Is now being carried on to develop t. This tunnel, after prospecting prospect-ing the Nabob ore body, has been driven westerly to a point very close to the east end of the V group. Under this condition, condi-tion, considering the present equipment of the Nabob mine. 1 believe that thc-proposcd thc-proposcd contract affords sufficient time to prospect a fair part' of this ground before any payment is demanded bv the owners. Without actual survey. I "estimate "esti-mate that 1400 feet of tunnel would cut two veins upon the V group at approximately approxi-mately 500 feel of depth, and under points where ore Is shown on tho surface. This work under present conditions would probably require eight months, leaving seven months to prospect these veins before be-fore the first payment. Economic Development. "A third vein on the Idaho could also be cut under the ore showing at depth of 00 feet by an additional 80-foot crosscut. cross-cut. These veins aro all (Strong and well defined, have ore on the surface and give every Indication of pre bodies at depth. If two good ore shoots are found In these three veins, the 'depth of vour lower tunnels would Justify tho erection or a mill, and In conjunction with other properties would Justify transportation It Is also evident that thj greater the length of ore upon any one level the less will be the cost or development per ton and afterward the cost of (extracting the ore.
