At the Colonial theater at I o'cloclc this afternoon will be presented the musical mu-sical treat of the week, the production of Bccthovon's "Mount of Olives," by the chorus of the University of Utah Musical society, a select orchestra, of forty professionals pro-fessionals and three professional soloists. Tho excellent rendition of this groat work at the Salt Lake theater a short time aco elicited tho warmest praise from the hundreds who heard It and with the additional rehearsals that have been had there Is no reason to doubt that this afternoon will witness even greater triumphs tri-umphs for the. musicians. Professor Squire Coop, head of the music department of the university, will conducl the production, which Is given under the auspices of the music section Of the Ladies' .Literary club. As a fitting prelude to the oratorio. MIsb Carrie Browning of Ogden, a pupil of Professor; Coop, who without European Euro-pean training has already achieved the distinction of the loading lady pianist of the stale, will play with tho orchestra Beethoven's great concerto In C major, (opus IS). The soloists arc Jr. J. Brines, tenor, who slugs the part of Jesus; Mrs. A. S. Peters, soprano (Seraph), "and Fred Smith, baritone (Peter). |
