Show SUGGESTED NET ASSAY FOR GOLD DETERMINATION As a wet assay for gold, the following is proposed: An assay ton of ore is ground for t-n minutes in a porcelain morlar with fifty c. c. of a solution of two parts lodln and four parts potassium potas-sium Iodide in 100 parts of water. After standing one hour, should the solution turn clear, owing to excess of reducing materials, add more iodine until the brown color Is permanent. Ths solution, solu-tion, s'jld to contain nil the gold. Is filtered o(f and with three grams of mercury mer-cury shaken in a stopnerod bottle until tho solution clears. The gold Ik now precipitated and amalgamated with tho mercury, which Is treated with nitric acid to dissolve the mcrcuryr |
