It was the second anniversary of the opening- of the Colonial, and the audience which welcomed the company was a capacity ca-pacity one, the largest audience that the theater has had. It differed, too, from the ordinary Salt Lake audience In that It was an appreciative and demonstrative demon-strative one. and gave to the company deserved applause, which resulted In several sev-eral curtain calls. Here Is the story In brief of "The White Sister:" After a woman who Is known as Sister Sis-ter Giovanni suddenly comes face to face with the man she hns loved and whom she.' b.ellevos dead. thn begins th. world-old struggle. Tho man tries with nil the force of his elemental being be-ing and his love to win the sister away from her vows. But she remains Inexorable. Inexor-able. She determines to go to a leper colony. He tricks her Into coming to his home, whore he holds her prisoner Through a set of circumstances the nun's presence In the man's homo bo-comes bo-comes known. He. In an attempt to Fhlo!d her good name, kills himself. And she goes to the leper colony, there to moot a horrible though a welcome death so that she may join her love In the great beyond. whero thcro aro no philosophies, no vows, nothing but penco and nappincss. It Is an extraordinary extraor-dinary company. Eulogy of Viola Allen, of James O'Nolll, Minnie Gale and Fannie Fan-nie Addison Pitt lu unnecessary and compliment useless.
