Show HUNDRED DIE IN MEXICAN RIOTS Woman Shoots Chief of Police and Bomb Kills Many v Other Natives, DIAZ'S OPPONENT SAYS REVOLUTION IS CERTAIN Soldiers in Special Train Are Rushed to the Scene of the Disorders. MEXICO CITY, Nov. IS. One hundred persons, including the chief of police, were killed in riots at Pueblo, today, according ac-cording to statements of passengers arriving ar-riving here tonight. The trouble began this morning when several policemen, headed, by the chief, attempted lo break up a meeting of antl-re-clcctlonists being hold In a large hall. As Chief of Police Migunl Cabrer and his men advanced toward the building a. door was opened by a woman, who shot the chief. A fight then began between the police and tho occupants. A bomb was thrown from one of the window:! in the midst of the policemen and ru rules, tho latter having been called to assist the officers. The bomb exploded, killing many. The other casualties occurred In the course of fighting which took place in the street. So far as known, there were no Americans Amer-icans killed. The passengers further assorted that froin.mldnlght until they left In the afternoon after-noon there was continuous rioting. From other sources In Mexico City tonight to-night It was learned t lie Seventeenth" battalion bat-talion left here late today for Puebla by special train, and that other trains were in readiness to transport additional troops. It was officially slated hero that eighteen men had been killed In Puebla. |
