Goodman stoutly maintains his innocence and has employed an attorney to represent him. At the conclusion of the preliminary hearing Judge Murphy . .c,ly cou,,t ound the prisoner over to the district court under S500 bond. Mrs. Catherine Grlenor, who conducts a rooming house at which Goodman was a lodger, testified that he had given her a check for 521.S5, drawn on J. G. Read Brothers, that she had credited a part of the amount to Goodman's lodging bill, and returned him $14.85 in cosh. R. A. Moycs, cashier of the Commercial National Na-tional bank, was called as handwriting expert and swbrc to the best of his knowledge tbat the handwriting on the race ot the check and the Indorsement were written by the same person. J. PVL: secretary of tho company, denied de-nied that the check had been issued bv his firm. |
