Show SMITH MODIFIES HIS ATTACK ON DE ROSIER C. Ij. Smith of Los Angeles. Cal.. who ln an open letter some weeks ago stated that DoRosier's motorcycle was measured twice following the trial on February 7, and whose statement wns contradicted by Chairman Thornloy, has "taken water" wa-ter" and rotmcted. In a Iotter to the chairman of tho competition committee under date of the 11th Inst., ho states thai he is convinced that DeRosier's machine was not measured meas-ured twice, i He asserts, however, that there were other irregularities in connection connec-tion with the measurement, and those charges arc now under investigation. Smith nlso has filed a long overdue affidavit, at the request of the chairman, to the effect that the Instruments which he lent to Referee Symonds to measure DeRosier's machine on January li were, to tha best of his knowledge, correct, and that they agreed with a sot of new Instruments that DoRosier purchased. The affidavit also states that the instruments instru-ments "Which Smith furnished did not belong be-long to him and that they were examined exam-ined by all parties present and found to bo adjusted correctly. |
