Show PAPER NURD MAKERS ADMIT BHU TRUST Court Imposes Fino of $2000 Upon Each of the Forty Defendant De-fendant Corporations. NEW YORK, Feb. 7. The Paper Board assocaition, maclo up of about forty paper hoard manufacturing corporations cor-porations which were indicted pome months ago by the federal grand .jury on tho charge of hoing an illegal combination com-bination in restraint of trade, pleadod guilty this afternoon to tho ciiargo. James M. Beck, armed with a power of attorney from tho association, entered the plea of guilty on behalf of all the dnfondants in the Unitod States circuit cir-cuit court. Judge Hough said tho charge was the same as against tho Fiber and Manila Paper association, upon oach of tho members of which he had imposed fines of $2000 about a year ago. Ho said he would impose similar fines in this instance, namely, $2000 against oach of tho defendants. At tlio request of United States District Dis-trict Attorney Wiso that portion of tho indictment against the individual defendants de-fendants was nollo prossed. The indictment among other things stated that because of this illegal combination com-bination tho association levied an. annual an-nual tax of $5,000,000 a year on tho people of the country. |
