Three persons were killed and one fatally injured in-jured as thu. result of a collision about 11:30 o'clock tonight In the Texas & Paclllc freight yards between a Kansas City Southern switch engine and train N'o. 63,. west-bound on the Texas & Pacific. John Brandon, porter on the Pullman car. Tho passenger (rain whs backing through the yards from the passenger station when the switch engine, hurrying hurry-ing to got out of the way of another passenger train, then due, crushed Into the Pullman car attnehed to the rear of train No. 53, tearing its way for fully half the length of the Pullman. Conductor Cornwcll and Miss Evans were standing on tho rear platform of tho Pullman when the switch engine struck It and were burled beneath the debris. Conductor Coriiwell's body was crushed almost beyond recognition, whllo Miss Evans, who was pinned underneath tho wreck in tho Pullman, lived almost, an hour, but was dead when the workmen were able to roach her. Switchman Parrlsh was riding on the rear footboard of the engine and was knocked off by the crash, and tho rebound re-bound of tho engine caught and crushed him John Brandon, the Pullman porter, was so badly crushed that he will die. |
