| Show SAD ACCIDENT A young lady at crushed under car wheels A very sad accident occurred in the union pacific freight yards last night miss dottie josephs aged 18 had her left leg cut off attoe calf by the trucks of a car in a train near the pump house on the other side of the coal chutes miss josephs and her 10 year old sister were passing under th e cars of a train which was standing on the track just east of the pump housa the train was made up of empties and there was no engine attached or near it the officials who ware handling the yards switching some cara near eighth street and kicked one car loose on this track A young lady colmoan ion of miss josephs says there was no car catcher riding the loose car and that it came down with such speed that it st artel this dead train and carried it with such force as to do the injury stated when miss joseph discovered that the cars was moving she seized her little sister and threw her out beyond the track and down the grade thus saving her from harm but the movement caused the elder sister to stumble forward and her foot was caught the car wheel passing over it smashing the lower part of her leg into a shapeless mass tr perkins was called and amputated the limb and gave the patient such attention that when a standard reporter called last night at 11 she was resting easy the sufferer is a daughter of mr joseph the foreman of the car cleaners of the union pacific and who lives a littie ways from the place of the accident standard |
