I iv it is almost between seasons, with Hie lljil; summer Initio drawing to a cloao and . fall trade not yet begun. Not that this siluation has caused any falling ; i off in trade, but the features of trade, Hj especially' in retail lines, .arc in the sale of those thiugs which belong essentially ii' to the vacation season, with lightweight A clothing for both men and women in the J! lead, and sporting goods, including i ,i ' fishing tackle, hammocks and tho like, jjjij and automobile supplies, forming a flj ;, large portion of the goods sold. The shoe dealers and furni- jr ture men start earlier in the .season than HH!, other dealers, and dry goods men will !Lj nor. leave for several weeks yet. The H k movoment, however, shows tho general tendency of business, and from now on M through" the summer features of trade will bo in strictly seasonable goods, and ) -with gains, especially in wholesale lines, L in the demand for stocks to anticipate k the early fall trade. If; Clearing Out Sales. There- has bsen an excellent demand for ladies' gloves, summer wash materials, leather good?, novelties in jewelry, ornaments, !, stationery ami toilet articles. Jij . The tin do in house furnishings, fur- j'1 niture, carpels, rugs and draperies, holds i. up remarkably well, it is said, consid- V cring the time of year, and men :s fur- ; nishings and clothing and suits for out- HPlli i ing purposes havo been in great dc- 1:; Another feature of the. week has 1 been tho call for garden hose, gasoline I . stoves and refrigerators. Several times during the B i spring the call has been heavy for B poultry netting, but the recent? demaud B ) has been for wire, both barbed and B i 1 barbless, for strictly fencing purposes. B The call comes from the country (lis- B m 1-1 tricis of Utah and Idaho, and is re- B ' garded as an excellent indication of the . L' fact that newcomers are taking up B J farms in out-lying localities. A good deal of tlje call comes from the recently B I opened irrigation projects, especially B I the Strawberry project. The farmers B all over the state, also, are calling for B ' ,l poultry netting to keep in their flocks. H'jlj Reports from I he country merchants B K show considerable satisfaction with B m conditions, and trade seems to be cx- B' ' 1 J ccllcnt all over the iutermountain coun- B''i! In view of this, B I I the lumber business has been good, with j . shipments of stock coming in as rupid- B'j'it h' as freight conditions will permit. B'U Tno nrK number, it is said, as an ad- B j n junct to th'c work and tho retail lumber B jln. 3'ards, consequently, appear to be, do- B it ing an unusually active business. B li'l Finances Strong. Following tho dividend divi-dend period of the local stocks not much was expected in this lino, although al-though a number of small sales have been made throughout the week.
