Show j SOL. KIMBALL ON THE GRIDDLE. It appears that there is another bomb-! bomb-! shell following that which Mr. Sol. Kimball so proudly signed and circulated circulat-ed during tho recent campaign in this city and county. This second bombshell has more explosive force to it and it carries more specific destruction than did that of Mr Kimball. In his campaign bombshell, Mr. Kimball Kim-ball set forth two main propositions; first, that some Gentile (understood to be Mr. Adams) told him of a deep and damnable plot by the American party which was hatched sorao years before the American party bad an' existence. This plot aimed to rob the Mormons of their property and drive them into exile. Tho idea that Mr. Adams could foresee fore-see a plot of this kind by a party to be organized somo years after his death, was one of tho remarkablo pellets in that bombshell. And another quite as remarkable was the supposition that this prophetic party was to commit robberies rob-beries utterly reprohensible, inexcusable, inexcusa-ble, and lawless, while the courts and government wcro still in full operation, a thing to bo wondered at. Another of Mr. Kimball 's bombshells was i.nac uo i;nov all about the authorship author-ship of somo letters printed in T.he Tribune, being those of a Mormon bishop to his son, who was a missionary. The Tribuno has offered Mr. Kimball very substantial reward to come forward for-ward with any proof as to this portion of his bombshell. Wo have offered also a very substantial reward to the tithing fund, or to auy charity that President Joseph F. Smith may name, if on a straightforward, clear, investigation, Mr. Kimball is able to support by any real evidence his statements with respect re-spect to these letters. Although these substantial and quite rich offers have been out for quite a while, and although wo have offered tho most liberal terms as to the body beforo which Mr. Kimball Kim-ball should present his proofs, wo have not? heard of any willingness on his part to como forward and earn the money offered. JTudgo Powers now comes forward with the succeeding bombshell and attacks at-tacks Kimball as an officer of the Federal Fed-eral court for putting forth such absolute abso-lute and malicious falsehoods as ho did, his act in this showing him to bo. an unfit associate for reputablo attorneys and unworthy to be an officer of the conrt. The Unito Stato3 Marshal's office here has been naked by the United States Attorney General to explain ex-plain Mr. Kihmball'a course, and to show why ho should bo rotaincd in office. of-fice. This is a bombsholl that Mr. Kimball Kim-ball did not expect, and wo are lost in spoculntion to know how ho will tako it, or how it will affect him. There can bo but ono fair opinion as to tho propriety pro-priety of Judgo Powers in moving upon tho Department to purge the court of this character assassin and malignant liar, and that is unqualified approval. And now the public will await with duo patience, but with keen interest, the result re-sult of this investigation. I |
