Show LIVELY MEETING HELD BY LIFE UNDERWRITERS 1 Utah Association Gathers at the Commercial Cluh to Discuss Dis-cuss Business. The Utah Association of Life Insurance Underwriters held their regular quarterly meeting at the Commercial club building Tuesday evening. President Will G. Farreil reported the result of tho trip of tho Utah delegation to tho convention of the National Association Asso-ciation of Life Insurance Underwriters. Lvery r.tate In the. Union was represented by delegates. Six days was spent In Los Angeles, two days in San Francisco and one In Salt Lako City, "where the dole-gates dole-gates were addressed by Governor Cutler. The feature of tho meeting was the ad-I ad-I dress of Colonel George B. Squires, deputy t Insurance commissioner ot Utah, who spoke of the legislation which Is necessary neces-sary to the proper supervision of life Insurance In-surance underwriting In the state. Every state, with the exception pf Utah. California Cali-fornia and Oklahoma, ban a complete Insurance In-surance code for the supervision of life Insurance. Colonel Squires pointed out salient features of tho necessary legislation, legisla-tion, and In many ways demonstrated the advantages of such action. ' Plans were laid by tho association for a propaganda of education of tho people of the state respecting this necessary legislation, for it Is not the intention of the association to do any lobbying, but to educate tho people so that they will demand such legislation from their representatives repre-sentatives In the legislature, and ln that way prevent fakers from imposing upon the public. One general and Lwo subcommittees were appointed to prepare material for legislation. Will G. Farreil was named as' chairman of the general, committee and J. W- Curtis and Joseph V. Smith as chairmen of ihe subcommittees. The meeting adjourned at 11 o'clock. ' |
