John Wolf, who, tho police think, bo-longs bo-longs In Plain City, the man who fired off a rifle seven times on South West Tera-plo Tera-plo street Monday forenoon, shooting one man in the right leg and narrowly missing miss-ing several other persons who wore closo by, will be given an examination today as to his mental condition. After the shooting Wolf was taken to tho city jail, where he remained until Tuesday morning, when tho police took him to the county jail. Wolf refused to eat, sleep or talk while confined In tho city jail and gave every evidence of being crazy. Lieutenant Hcmpel, Jailer Ripley, Sergeant Ser-geant Beckstead and Policemen Pitts and Grundvlg undertook the duty of taking tho man from his cell and tothe county jail. Wolf put up a hard fight when tho officers went to his cell to get him, but was soon overpowered and with his hands locked together with a pair of handcuffs no more trouble was experienced. Tho man was placed In the padded cell at the county jail. Richard Drone, whom Wolf shot through the fleshy part of tho right leg between the knee and ankle, Is recovering recover-ing rapidly at St. Mark's hospital, where he Is being treated. Augusta Miller, an old woman brought Into the county jail Monday night, being found at tho Denver & Rto Grando station, will be examined as to her mental men-tal condition. |
