Show CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BALL A scene of gaiety and a brilliant social success the chamber of commerce ball on wednesday evening was a most successful affair quite a number of visitors were present mostly from salt lake city the theatre had been tastefully decorated for the occasion with the national colors bunting evergreens ever greens flowers etc and when lit up for the ball presented a most gorgeous sight A portable stand for the orchestra had been erected in front of the first circle which proved to be a great improvement on the manner in which the music has been fixed on previous occasions this arrangement also left the whole of the floor for dancing purposes besides allowing those seated in the centre of alie dress circle to see the dancers soon after 8 strains of delicious music from alsens full quadrille band from salt lake city announced the dance fully opened and the floor presented a scene of gaiety the rich dread es worn by the ladies made the view one that the spectators could not help but feast upon the floor was ably managed and the prompting by mr hillam was excellent sixty three numbers were out and there seemed to be just enough engaged in the dance for it to be a social as well as a financial success while alsens band were at supper judge dusenberry Dusen herry vernee rial liday and F W C hathenbruck were prevailed upon to play a waltz which they did to good effect judge dusenberry handled the first violin vernee halliday second violin F W C hathenbruck cornet and st V lesieur bass it was about two thursday morning when the danco closed ending one of the most pleasing times experienced this winter for this all credit is due the committees who labored so incessantly to crown the event with success |
