| Show S OF I 1 0 o bar to judge em afternoon george committee ap ethe to draft resolutions memory of the late presented the follow pie bar of this court hav 1 purpose of paying a trib lory of honorable P H armer associate justice of this territory and adge of this com t for over who departed this life f 1889 therefore be it ced that in liis death our bar of ita members delvca one of aur best and gaui friends frie towards whom we have orne for many yeara the highest and moat tender feelings af love respect and eathem to whom we looked up aa lie ut our bar u ider whose kindly and fuste nug consideration in fane ambitions e and alb str ivas bun lenir measure of his life and hid examples u in ail the unika of life ched the holy of hoi and high arteg integrity resolved that our heartfelt sympathy out to the bereaved widow and family in this their time of sorrow resolved that these resolutions be spread upon the records of this court and an engrossed copy thereof b warded tur 10 anu widow and bamily ol 01 dvir departed brother and as a further m ark of respect we request that una court do no adjourn until friday morning next mr sutherland in presenting the resolutions made a feeling and eloquent speech expressive of ane esteem and admiration he felt for the departed mr D evans in seconding the adoption of the resolutions made some remarks of a similar character he referred to his own early experience as a member of the bar while the lam anted judge emerson presided in the farsi district court and to the fact that he with other attorneys present commenced hia professional labors with him mr J E booth followed and said that throughout his acquaintance with the deceased ho had learned to greatly respect him and had always regarded him as a consistent christian gentleman air W H king referred to the beginning of his acquaintance with judge emerson who when a stripling of hf teen years attending school in this city be was the recipient of good fatherly advice from him advice that had since directed him in his professional pursuits mr S B thurman made a fitting speech judge emerson he said hd done as much if not more than any other man in utah to encourage and assist young men in their struggles and labors the judge was twelve years on the bench during that time he had become endeared to all those young men who had been benefited by his examples and advice and since he had descended from the lofty position ho had so long and admirably tilled those many years he had as a member of the bar evinced same honorable and gentlemanly deportment that had so long distinguished him mr A also paid a touching touch inc and eloquent tribute to the memory of the deceased judge mr W creer said he could ampre ciance and endorse all that had been said in commendation of the late judge emerson the speaker expressed his love for him and his sympathy for the bereaved judge added a few suitable remarks he WAS the first of the bar to become intimately acquainted with the honored deceased and had ever since the formation ot that acquaintance reason to hold him in the highest estimation hid honor judge judd said he came to this territory in august last and bad not been here twenty tour hours before he became judge emersons guest he was impressed impre saed with his kindly ano genial disposition he had found tha he had not been mia lakon in hia estimate of the man the court ordered the resolutions to be spread on the record of the court |
