Show THE REASON WHY. Tho church organ last night had tho following editorial paragraph: "The Tribuno Is llrm In Its belief and Insistence that h' old 'revelation.' eom-mnndlng eom-mnndlng the practice of plurnl marriage, should bo cxpungc-d from the book." says the organ of the Pceudo-Amerlcan party. And no doubt It if Also "firm In its belief and inslstonce." that the entire "Mormon" "Mor-mon" people should be extirpated. Tho organ, however, does not openly advocate, advo-cate, the elimination from the Dible of the history of Abraham, or of Davd, nor the genealogical record of our Lord and Re-' Re-' Ueemer. Why not? ! Tho reasou is perfectly plain on tho face of it. The Tribune does not advocate advo-cate the usurpation of the Mormon people, peo-ple, of course, because as a mass the most of them are better than their re- ! ligion. The Tribune docs not. either openly or secretly, odrpcato the eliminating from the Bible of any part of it e.ou-Tcuts. e.ou-Tcuts. Because the Bible does not inculcate in-culcate any practice against civilization civiliza-tion aud law, and does not contain any so-called revelation that is expressly se.t aside by a manifesto received by inspiration in-spiration from God aud ratified by any congregation having the authority to pass upon tho question. No doubt if tli6 Bible ever contained any vicious revelation that was expressly set aside by an inspired manifesto, it was olim-inated olim-inated long ago. Just; as t?o now think that the vicious, lawl:s barbarous. polygamy revelation, having been jot aside by an inspired manifesto, sht.uld bo struck out from the law bouk of tho church. |
