Show I TAFT IS PLANNING TRIP TO THE LONE STAR STATE AUGUSTA. Ga., Dec. 22 President- I elect W. H. Taft decided today to visit the stato of Tcxas at some convenient j time after his Inauguration, preferably at the end of the special session of con- j gress which he Is to call to revise the tariff. While hlu Itinerary for tho visit has not been arranged, he will mako the city of Dallas one of tho principal points of the trip. , Thirtv cities and towns of the Lone Star state unite in a request for his presence pres-ence at any time ha should choose to come. The Invitation expressed a keen desire on the part of the commercial bodies of the places in question to make the personal acquaintance of Mr. Taft and promised him a cordial welcome and cour teous treatment. It also dwelt upon the advantage which would result both to the state and to himself through" auoh a visit. But three southern cities besido Augusta Au-gusta will see the president-elect during his present stay In tho southland He will visit Atlanta at some time to be fixed by a delegation which will come here next week. He will embark for Panama from Charleston, rf. C. and has decided to land at New Orleans on his return. Mr. Taft said tonight that he had written writ-ten Frank IL Hitchcock, national Republican Repub-lican chairman and future postmaster-general postmaster-general to vinlt him here. Mr. Hitchcock ic expected within a few dayr. Senator Knox, who is alvo expected, has ae yet not indicated when he will be here. As the result of a caaual remark by Mr. Taft at the Country club dinner last night that he had not been able to find II'1 here a Saddlo "that was big enough to El stick a postage stamp on."
