Show CONGRESS EXPECTS TO ' ' ADJOURN EARLY IN MAY WASHINGTON, April 13. That the present session of Gongrcss will adjourn on or about May 9 is tho prediction of Representative James E. Watson Wat-son of Indlnnapolls, Ropubllcan whip of the House. Mr. Watson bases this prediction pre-diction upon information he has gathered gath-ered as the result of n. confidential survev of the situation in the two houses o"f Congress. During the past few days Jloprcsenta-tive Jloprcsenta-tive Watson has conferred with the leaders lead-ers at both ends of the capltol in regard to adjournment, and all of them are anxious for an early date. Mr. Wateon thinks there Is ample time between now audi May 9 for conipIeMnn of the legislative legisla-tive programme. According to Mr. Watson, Wat-son, Senator Aldrlch also is in fnvor of an early adjournment. Mr Watson discussed the subject with Speaker Cannon Can-non today and the latter also expressed a desire for un early adjournment Mr. Watson stated tonight that ho expects ex-pects to call on President Roosevelt to discuss Ihe legislative programme and the matter of adjournment. |
