Show SHIPMENTS OF COPPER EXCEED THE PRODUCTION nish the following, received over their private pri-vate wire yesterday afternoon Boston The United States exports of eopper during the past six months amount to 403.670.87G pounds, or an average aver-age quantity per month of 67.27D.MG pounds. Estimating tlu- recent production SnAnnjfft country at about tho rate of J 000,000 pounds per annum, we see that the shipments abroad during the last six months are equivalent to "more than the total T nltcd States output for that period based on above itf-ms Por the six months ending March 31. 1007 the Si?.P0-!,Hnf cPPer from this country were d2L2A? pounds, or at the rate of ..,(iS.820 pounds per month, This Is nearly one-half less than that for the past six months. The figures carry convincing con-vincing proof of the tremendous shrinkage shrink-age In American consumption since last October. But the favorable feature of this exhibit Is the fact that this country is not confronted with the enormous accumulation ac-cumulation existing last fall. There is a moderate surplus of the copper metal here yet. but the great bulk formerly available has been shipped out of t he-country he-country and there isjjut little probability of it coming back again while the price remains under 15 cents. Kurope can be counted on to take another 400,000,000 pounds during the next six months if tho price is low enough to suit foreign buyers. buy-ers. .Actual requirements did not call for such heavy shipments as have loft the country lately, but European buyers are willing to run the risk of stocking up treely at around 12 cents If they have an oversupplj, they can make arrangements arrange-ments for carrying it until it is worked up In tho course of trade. Foreign buyers buy-ers are watching their opportunities to get another heavy slice of American production pro-duction when they succeed In hammering hammer-ing the price down low enough. A fresh buying movement mav take place at any time, as the birr operator are said to be laying their wires to make another scoop as soon as thev find that they have weakened holders to let so at their level.
