Pitt, upon the receipt of a neutral telegram from the Mayor of Kansas City, ordered Mrs. Julia Baker and Miss .Tuanlla Sparling, repre--scnting the Joseph's home at Kansas City, lo cease soliciting funds for that Institution, In-stitution, and tho "women In black' gave up their rooms at the Wilson hotel and have left the city. It Is understood, for greonor and fresher pastures. According to reports, tho women obtained ob-tained a handsome sum from charitably inclined persons, who responded readily lo their appeals for aid for the homo". The ICansas City Mayor's telegram said that the homo is a private Institution, and tho Mayor declined, to express an opinion opin-ion ns to whether the Institution Is deserving de-serving of charity. |
