Chicago i3 about to have an organisation that will em-' brace in its scope the aims, character and dignity of tho Ancient and Houor-able Houor-able Artillery company of Boston and tho hereditary features of the National Order of the Cincinnati. The Patriotic Ancient and Honorablcs of Columbia post, as the new order is" called, is within a fortnight of organization, and the list of charter members includes some Of the leading men in the city. Several multimillionaires as well as men famous in the departments of learning and art are on the list. The charter roll is limited to 100, and at nresent morc than ninety applicants have been accepted. The scrutiny to which the- lives and, characters or tho applicants has been subjected is severe, and it is the intention of tho founders, to make tho vrder distinctly one of merit. - A sweeping nled"e is required of all candidates, and this must, bo signed with tho first application. It demands first of afl an unswerving .lovalty and devotion to the Government of tho United Uni-ted States and those in authority under it. Any smirch tin the character of an applicant, is sufficient to bar him from membership, and' ho must indorse the 1 ideas which are' basic in the principles of tho Grand Army of the licublie. ' I
