July 1 Tho Eureka lodge of Elks has purchased a piece of Main street property nnd Is preparing to erect a large business block. The ground was purchased from tho Shea estate and Just as soon as the salo is confirmed by tho court tho lodge will make preparations to start tho new building, which Is to contain two largo business rooms, two thoroughly equipped lodge halls and an up-to-aate opera house. While tho treasury of tho order docs not contain sufllclent funds to carry this work out, prominent members have .subscribed .sub-scribed for stock in the new enterprise. The prico at which the building lot changed hands was $2500. The trustees of the Eureka public school aro advertising for bids for tho erection of another school building The new building Is to be located a few feet to the west of the present school house and Is to -cost $&W0. The two buildings will bo heated by the heating plant which Is now In use. E. H. Osborn Is erecting a two-story frame rooming-house upon Hatfield avenue, ave-nue, leading from tho Klo Grando depot.
