Tho banking situation in Rhode Island improved im-proved today and many prominent financiers predict it will bo normal when the banks open Monday. As a result of tho few days' difficulty the Union Trust company suspended, and a temporary receiver was appointod, and several hanks havo taken advantage advan-tage of th& ninety-day notice on savings sav-ings accounts aud announced that depositors de-positors will be obliged to give niuoty days' notice on withdrawals of over $100. Marsdcn J. Perry, vice-president of the Union Trust company, slates that his bank, will be reopened. At a Democratic rally at River Point tonight to-night Governor lliggius, referring to the financial situation, advised his hearers hear-ers not to withdraw their money from tho banks. |
