Dayton I is said to bo the man who was arrosted on August 20 and was booked under tho name of Edward J. Lano on a charge of mendicancy. Ho mudo a plea to Judge Murphy at that tlmo that ho was a deaf mute and wa3 sentenced to ninety days In Jail, but sentenco was tnrn-)ended tnrn-)ended to give him tlmo to get out of town. At that time he gave his age as 22 years and his birthplace ns Austria. Ho now says that his name Is James C. Dayton nnd his ago 1C years,-and that he was born In Denver, Colo. 1 When arrested by the officers he was not nt all mute.
