Show LYING CHURCH MAGAZINE. The kind of stuff that Is served as intellectual in-tellectual and spiritual food to young Mormons and old ones, for that matter mat-ter la Illustrated by the following choice morsel from one of the church magazines; This spirit and testimony concerning his own righteousness and his right to rule President Joseph F Smith declared before tho Congressional committeo ho had received: and through and by which G"d is guiding thl.s people, and through Which also, a3 ho subsequently testltlod, he has seen marvelous things and re-i.-flv (1 great wisdom There is not one word of truth in thut quotation Joseph F. Smith gave no such testimony, nor any susceptible of such construction. Throughout tho hundreds of pages of the official report there Is to be found In his utterance no sentence worthy of a man who claims divine guidance; there Is to be found no Impressive testimony to tho faith which he proclaims; there Is to be found nothing which would be grat-iting grat-iting to any intelligent and conscientious conscien-tious follower The whole is a mass of rubbish eometlmes with a flash of arrogant ar-rogant defiance of law and decency, but wholly easive, misrepresenting and silly. That the magazine of which Joseph F Smith is the editor should print the above testimonial concerning his evidence evi-dence riven at Washington is not surprising, sur-prising, It Is only shameful. It serves to set an example of falsehood and folly fol-ly which, if followed by the people to whom it is directed, will make perfidy the aactuatlng characteristic of their lives. |
