Show CONGRATULATIONS. We congratulate the formers of Sanpete San-pete and Sevier counties upon two Im-)ortant Im-)ortant things In their favor. First, that they had a committee to represent tin m, onsistlng of Mr. Henry Kcarns and Mr. F B "'opening, who are not only able and trustworthy business men, but who could not be frightened out of a Just position; and second, upon up-on the fact that Salt Lake capitalists capi-talists are not afraid to measure swords with the Utah Sugar company, provided pro-vided that they can have the loyal support sup-port of Ihe communities In which they propose to make their Investment. As told In our local columns, the project for a new sugar factory looks like a very fine proposition. To make ii effective Salt Lake capitalists are to invest 1500,000 In ihe enterprise, provided pro-vided that the farmers, under certain reasonable conditions will take $260,000 worth of stock In the corporation. T'nder this arrangement the factory will be built, as the farmers desired, at Gunnison; conveniences will be established estab-lished for the delivery of beets which will relieve the producers from many of the annoyances under which they now suffer, and probably an advanced price will be obtained per acre. It might have seemed like an almost hopeless undertaking, this contest against a monoply supported by th-: church hierarchy; but It Is as hopeful as It Is needful, if the- local community Will stand by Its own industry. The factory, therefore, should and can be established. Tho farmers have the decision In their hands. |
