Clmdwlek detailed some of hor financial transactions during an examination by Attorney Louis J. Grossman, acting for Trustee Nathan J-ocser. Mrs. Clmdwlek said that slu was not able to give as many details of the transactions as she would like, because of the absence of papers pa-pers which were- presented In a number of cltlc3. She had sent for the papers and expected to havo ihem when tho hearing will be continued next Thursday. Commissions Paid Lenders. She lestlllcd that her total Indebtedness would not exceed STSO.OOu. Of this sum. borrowed from various persons, she had received only 317,000, leaving $'.'aVX) for commissions to the money lenders. She said she owed certain banlcs In Cleveland $200,000. The names of thrco of these institutions in-stitutions she wus willing to give to Trustee Joescr privately. Prisoner Was Cheerful. Mrs. Clmdwlek walked from tho county Jail to the Bankruptcy court this afternoon, after-noon, a dlstanco of about one block. She looked wcMI and appeared cheerful. She expressed her willingness to tell all that she could of her ilnanclal affairs. Some of the questions that were put to her were not answered because she did not care to give a reply from memory. Jewelry as Assets. The examination disclosed additional assets as-sets of J'CO.COO. Of this amount, $iS,000 Is duo Charles 11 Stewart of Cleveland and $150,000 Is Jewelry, held by Wolfers Brothers Broth-ers of Brussels. Belgium. Mrs. Chadwick asserted that there were other assets, consisting of Jewelry and valuable articles, arti-cles, held by other pei-sons for her. Where Examination Was Hold. The examination was conducted In the presence of Mrs Chadwlck's four attorneys, attor-neys, who at times Interposed an objection objec-tion to the .questions of Mr. Grossman, and wl(h whom Mrs. Chadwick frequently consulted beforo she replied to somo of tho attorney's questions. Relutive to the suit of Herbert D. Newton New-ton of Brookllne, Muss., to recover $190,-00 $190,-00 loaned by him, Mrs. Chadwick said she was not Indebted to Mr, Newton for that amount. She said Mr. Newton held her paper for that sum, but that she did not receive that much money from him. "How much did he give you, actuully?" Mr Grossman asked. What Newton Gave Her. "It would represent $7S,0G0," replied Mrs. Chadwick. "I obtained $2$.00O m money and notes for the rest Two $15,000 notes . were applied on an old debt, and two $10,000 notes were negotiated. I realized $1000 on one nnd $1000 on the other." "Does the difference between $7S,000 and the $190,500 represent the commission?" "Yes " "Where are these notes?" Who Holds Notes.
