Show To Impeach County Officials Goldfield Has a Sensation in Proceedings Pro-ceedings Begun Against Judicial Officers. Special to Tho Tribune. GOLDFIELD. Nov.. March 21. Impeachment Im-peachment proceedings have been Instituted Insti-tuted on two counts against Justice of the Peace William Bell, Constable James Russell and District Atlcrncy J. IS. Davidson David-son of this county on charges made by a man now serving a term In the county jail for passing fraudulent checks, tho other by the foreman of the grand Jury of Esmeralda county on account of nccu-uatlons nccu-uatlons made bv disreputable women of the town. Tho of fleers have been cited to ippear before the grand Jury Monday, April 3, to answer to the charges llled cgainst them. Complaint by a Convict. The ilrst complaint Is tiled by J. A. Me-Pherson, Me-Pherson, who as tried and convicted thrco months ago on a charge of passing bad check3. MpPherson avers the oflicials of the court on different occasions offered lo quash the lndlctnient against him for a consideration- Tnc sums named were JSOO and $2C0. MePhcrson states that he wns unable to raise this money and that he was then-remanded lo Jail' and duly "tried and convicted Charge by Grand Juror. The more serious charge of tho two Is that preferred by tho foreman of the grand Jury of the county now In session at Hawthorne. This complaint avers that the three officials have been making arrests ar-rests on false charges among the disreputable disrepu-table characters of the town, convicting and lining them und that the money received re-ceived has been appropriated to the threo oflicials. Branded as False. District Attorney Davidson said tonight: "1 brand each and every one of tlieio statements as falsV. The man who makes tho charge in the flist instance is now serving u sentence and ho knows that we have further evidence against him and on entirely new charges ln the case of the women their churges are occasioned by the unusual vigor with which wo have lately prosecuted them for violations of tho county ordinances. The complaints are not worth the paper on which they are written." Other Officers Surprised. The other ofllclnls expressed surprise at the charges and branded them as being absolutely false..
